Okay so I haven't posted in a couple days...bad Becky!! Today is Friday and not just any Friday, the start of 3 day weekend because of Labor Day. One would think that on this long weekend hubby and I would have something FUN and exciting planned, right? WRONG!! Ugh!! We moved into our apartment the first week in August and there were some problems with the person up above us so we ended up changing apartment buildings and numbers so now we are away from that person and are the upstairs apt. This all happened right before we both started on new jobs on August 6th. So since then our apartment has been half finished, boxes still everywhere! Nothing is really set up except for the bed and the TV, lol!! So our exciting plans for this weekend is to unpack everything and get everything put the way we want - no more boxes!!! Should be great and more relaxing since it will get that weight off our shoulders but I am still trying to figure out where I am going to get the energy from to do all this. Any brilliant ideas?? I know I will have to have the iPod speakers players so I at least have music going.
Speaking of music, I was SO excited to hear that Leah from Life with Pugs went to the Josh Groban concert in Denver. My sister and I went in Dallas back in March and it was incredible. Definitely love him!!! So don't worry girl you and I will be nerds together! :)

Never Ending Battle
Does anyone else go back and forth over their weight? I mean I will be honest, I have never been the skinniest girl and I will probably never be one. I see skinny girls wearing things that I don't even think THEY should be wearing, let alone anyone else. Back at the end of May my hubby and I started SlimFast to see how we would do. From about the end of May until the middle of July I lost almost 30 pounds. Clothes were beginning to hang on me and people were saying things about it. Then we move back to Dallas, got busy trying to get things straightened out, starting new jobs and we stopped the SlimFast for a while. Now I am not saying that we have gained much weight back if any really but I am wondering why can I not just be happy with myself as God intended? I mean we are of different sizes, shapes, colors, creeds, whatever - all intended different for a purpose. Now I hope you will forgive my Hollywood reference here but that is another reason why I so love the new movie Hairspray. It deals with a plus size girl who is not afraid to love herself no matter what and to see everything she accomplishes - her dream, her dream guy - it is very uplifting. I am trying to decide if I want to restart the somewhat demanding routine of a diet again and try not to think about the food I will miss or if I can just forget it and be happy with where I am and go on. Does ANYONE else have this problem??

Volleyball Night
Well tonight was hubby's first volleyball game with his old church league. They ended up losing all 3 of their games but I think they were all trying to find their groove as a team. They did very well, I thought - they have next Monday off since it is Labor Day but we will be back at it on September 10th. One of the couples on the volleyball team has been so nice to us, even when we were first dating. They invited us to attend church this Sunday. This is the church that my hubby grew up with and it has had some big changes over the last couple of years and from what we have heard they have all been good changes. I am trying to convince hubby to give it another shot and we should go this Sunday. So if everyone could keep their prayers open for us so we can have a wonderful experience I would appreciate it. I mean I know it will be good with it being church but I want it to be more than good so that my hubby will want to go back. Is that bad to wish something like that? I am just trying to get everything settled and lined around by the time we have kids later in life. One goal at a time right?

Weekend Roundup
http://laragallagher.com/blog/2007/08/smart-habit-saturday_24.html
I have decided that I am going to try and do this "Smart Habits Saturday". I know, I know it is Sunday but I figure it is only one day behind. The habit that I am going to try and work on for each day is doing one load of laundry. This seems like a little thing to do but it is VERY hard for me. I LOATHE, LOATHE, LOATHE the laundry. I would rather do anything else but that! So I am going to try and do one load every night and then by the weekend maybe I won't have ANY laundry to do. Just like The Lazy Organizer says, you have to start with small goals first. So wish me luck with this first goal of mine! I will report back on this this coming Saturday.
Besides that hubby and I house-sat and dog-sat for my parents this weekend. They left on Friday morning to take my sister to Austin to start college. Go sis!! You will do great! My parents got back to Dallas late Saturday night and both my parents, me and hubby and my brother and his girlfriend went out to dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. I am not the biggest seafood person but I tried crab for the first time on Saturday and it wasn't bad. Might have it again sometime. I am very excited for my hubby got invited to play his old church's volleyball league that starts tomorrow night. This is the church he worked in from about 16 yrs old and only left after we got married and had to move away to Lubbock. So he will be playing with some old friends of his....can't wait! Should be a fun and relaxing evening! I am planning on taking some pics to put up this coming weekend.

Talk about Organized
Okay as I have mentioned before, I so STRIVE to be organized. But I don't think I will EVER be as organized as Michelle Duggar. She is mother of 17 children! Can you imagine that? In fact the youngest child is only weeks old. They live in Arkansas in a 7000 square foot home they built themselves. I still cannot believe it. They have their own website....www.duggarfamily.com. You should go to it and click on the "photos" tab - look at the pictures of their home. Their laundry room just makes me SO envious. I cannot even stay on top of my laundry and there are only 2 of us! I am still just flabbergasted. I would love to have her organizational skills for a week - just so I could get my house in order.
Besides that, anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? Since my parents are taking my sister to move in at college my hubby and I are housesitting their place and taking care of the family dog, Jake. I cannot wait - big house to relax in, just us.....we are planning on going out for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Yum!! Can't wait...other than that I am seriously thinking about seeing Hairspray again. I know, I know, I have already seen it twice but it is SO good! Anyone want to see it with me? :)

No Change!!
I don't know about you guys but I am definitely a person who doesn't like change very well. I would like to pretend that I am very spontaneous but not so much. I love trying to be organized - I strive to be so organized! It is so funny if you ever talk to my friends about me, one thing they tend to say is that I am so organized!! Talk about irony there. ANYWAYS.....the reason why I bring up change is that my sister is leaving this Friday for college. She will be attending college in Austin - about 3-4 hours away from here. It really isn't bad but I hope she does SO much better than I did my first semester of college. My roomie freshman year was nice - we talked, not really buddy buddy but not bad either. I just hated being away from family and places I knew and felt comfortable with. I was lucky enough to meet one of my good friends through a completely boring class! It was called College Connections and it was designed to help freshmen get more adjusted to college life. I will never forget my first week in that class.....after class one day I was heading to the cafeteria and one of the girls in my class came up and asked if she could join me at lunch. From there started a great friendship which later we became roommates. Steffany, I never did thank you for all of our fun times, TV watching nights, laughs, cries and advice.....I don't know what I would have done without you. Now, I just hope my sister adjusts better than I and has the time of her life. What would you say to someone starting a big hurdle in their life, like college?

I Feel Loved!
I cannot believe it - I got 5 comments on my last blog entry. Talk about feeling loved!! I was even more excited because the authors of one of the blogs I visit daily, Ragus Pug, left me a comment. I have loved reading about her life and especially her pug children. I was even blessed last Christmas to get a Xmas picture card from her pugs! I still have it too! I am hoping by this Christmas time I will have my own pug to put pics of on here. Today at work I just couldn't wake up. I probably should have stopped by Starbucks on the way in and got my favorite White Chocolate Mocha with no whipped cream but I was trying to be good. I finally woke up long enough to spill coke all over my desk which was OH-SO-FUN to clean up. I asked and I got to leave 10 mins early from work today - so I left at 4:50 which amazingly was less traffic for me to fight. I got home before hubby did! I decided that after dinner I would go and have my acrylic nails taken off and get a manicure. All done - nails nice and pampered and with a very light pink color on them. One of my good friends, Steffany, mentioned the movie Steel Magnolias in her blog today and her quote reminded me of another quote from that movie which I thought was appropriate for me now. "Her colors are pink and pink" "My colors are blush and bashful Mama." :)

New Look, New Leaf
Well, what do you think guys?? Do you love it? I SURE DO! I think Miss Lindsay with Splat Designs did an awesome job. Hats off to Lindsay - would SO recommend her to anyone. She is very helpful. I love my "new" blog!
Since I got a new look I decided that this would be the perfect time to turn over a "new leaf", so to speak. I am going to try and be very diligent about my blog. I always love reading other people's blog and I would like mine to be one of those too. So my first order of business is to tell everyone about the new movie Hairspray. I love it!! I wasn't too "dedicated" about it at first but I have now seen it twice in the movie theater and owe the soundtrack. It is so good! The main character, Tracy Turnblad, played by newcomer Nikki Blonsky is so great. She did an awesome job....I am even thinking about seeing it one more time in the theater. Who knows!? I also want to see Becoming Jane.....we will see which one wins out in the end.

Middle Name Meme
I know, I know - ANOTHER one but it goes anyway! :) It deals with using the letters in your middle name.
Here are the rules:
1. You have to post these rules before you give the facts.
2. Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of their middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.
3. At the end of your blog-post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag.
N - non-partyier. I am sure most people just sigh here but it is true - I don't smoke and I don't drink. It isn't because I have some higher reason, I just don't. I don't push my thoughts onto other people either - to each their own. Have fun!
I - incessitant worrier. Unfortunately this is my biggest vice. I worry about every little thing - even things I do not have ANY control over. I wish I could just go with the flow, no worries. Maybe one day I will, my husband and brother both are pros about being laid-back.
C - constantly trying to be organized. I love the idea of being organized and I get inspired when I see other people's organization. My friend Steffany is so organized -I was in awe in college and I bet I would be now with her house! I don't think I am organized at all, but I am constantly striving to be.
O - Obsessed with purses/totes! Much to my husband's chagrin but I love me some purses. Even more so I love the purses that are expensive like Coach, Brighton, Dooney and Bourke. I am trying to get better but I bet I have about 15 purses - don't even get me started on my tote bags!
L - loves pink! Ask my mother now and she is still flabbergasted about this one. She said growing up I picked ANY other color but pink. Not now! I love pink, I feel just gravitating towards it. I secretly wish I could get a pink Bug convertible!
E - earnestly wants to do more, to learn more. I am trying to get blogging down and to be more diligent about it. Just like with scrapbooking, I have SO much stuff but Steffany has beaten me with actually doing stuff and putting it to use. Mine just sits there....maybe I need to look for some good ol' fashioned inspiration.
Okay now I am supposed to tag 6 people for the number of letters in my middle name but I don't know that many so I will just tag whoever wants to do it. How about that??

My Moaning Meme
4 Things That Should be Removed from the Earth
~ Bad drivers! I swear, ugh! I got the "bird" from a driver on Friday three times for him not being in the right lane and having to slow down to get behind me. People like that make me kind of understand Road Rage
~Snakes. I know it isn't their fault but I just hate them. They creep me out and any snake around me better be a dead one!
~Washer/dryer. I know everyone is going how should we do our laundry then but that is the WHOLE point! No laundry again, yeah! Clothes will just clean themselves.
~NASCAR, sorry for all those who love it but I just do not get it. To me it is like watching a highway road in a circle. Oh well!
3 Things People Do to Make You Want to Shake Them
~ When people act like they know more than you. That may be true but they do not have to rub it in your face. We all can learn from each other, come on.
~ When people think that they are entitled to certain things. Anything worth having is worth the effort. So if you really want something then do something about it, don't whine.
~ People who are late and have no respect for other people who get to places early. If I have to hear one more person say they don't understand why I get to work early...I will smack them. You get to work late and then worry about why your boss seems cross with you later.
2 Things You Find Yourself Moaning About
~ Just like Steffany, LAUNDRY! I hate it, hate it, hate it! I would rather do anything else in the world than that. I would love just to have a personal laundry maid - talk about a dream come true!
~ Budgeting money. I know we all have to do it but why does owning a home have to be SO unreachable? I mean we will get there eventually but I really don't want to be living in an apartment for years on end just to get there.
1 Thing The Above Answers Tell You About Yourself
~ I am not that patient of a person but I knew that. I am trying to work on my tolerance and acceptance of those things I don't like. So everything pray for me and maybe I will get there soon! :)

Questionnaire I Borrowed
Rules: 1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts. 2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves. 3. People who are tagged write their own blog post about their eight things and include these rules. 4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and that they should read your blog.
You know it's pretty hard thinking up new stuff to tell you readers. I mean I'm pretty open and I do a lot of these questionnaire type things. Hmm...
Fact 1: I am in love with the color pink. It is weird - my mom says growing up I would go to ANY other color but pink. Not now! I have 2 pink purses and I am sure I will get more. I think anything looks better in pink. I have even seen a pink Bug convertible - told the hubby I would love one of those! :)
Fact 2: I have all the Harry Potter books but I have only read the first one. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE the series, I have all the movies on DVD and I have seen all the movies that are out but I just have not read the books. I even bought the last book the second day it came out but I have lots of reading to do before I get there.
Fact 3: I love breakfast food best, I think. Doesn't matter what it is - I love something simple like a White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks all the way to Quiche Lorraine at La Madeleine. Of course I also love pancakes, donuts, muffins, etc. But strangely enough I am not a fan of eggs unless it is for an omelet. Weird but I am okay with it.
Fact 4: I have a bachelors degree in Radiological Sciences (xrays) that I will never do or use again. I am sure everyone is going "why?" - I just won't. I think my internship and first year working at a hospital here in Dallas ruined it. WAY too political for me, I mean we are all supposed to be there for the patients, didn't always turn out that way. It doesn't bother me but it is very hard for my father - he thinks whatever your degree is in is what you should do, period.
Fact 5: I have tried keeping a journal so many times that I have lost count. I have always heard/read that it is very helpful with dealing with stress and different situations to be able to put it down on paper. I always go out and buy colorful, amazing journals to fill but I never end up doing it. Maybe one day huh?
Fact 6: I really don't get the music reality TV shows. I have never watched American Idol, except for maybe 2-3 episodes period. I have never watched "So You Think You Can Dance" or "Dancing with the Stars". I just don't get it. I would rather watch something more exciting. My current TV loves are CSI Miami (love Horatio!), The Closer and Numbers. Even more funny? I don't watch these shows on TV, I buy the season DVDs and watch them straight.
Fact 7: I have never been truly on my own. I mean I went to college - but I had a roommate the whole time and then when I came back for my internship I lived with my parents. My first year working at the hospital after graduation I was still living at home and I ended up meeting my husband. We got married that next year (2004) and I have been with him ever since. I have never been truly on my own, in an apartment, without anyone.
Fact 8: I am a sucker for romance novels. I know most people are like "ick" but I love them. I love the whole happy ending - the whole idea of "happily ever after". I buy new books probably every 2-3 weeks even though I don't need them. My favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Johanna Lindsey, Diana Palmer, Linda Howard.....I really don't like the regency authors though. Too much detail about the clothes and the atmosphere for me.
Well I did my 8 facts - let's see if anyone reads them or finds them surprising!
