All for Valentine's Day Gifts and Books

This Saturday I had an relaxing day planned to hang out with a friend of mine and watch chick flicks at her house. On the way to her house, I decided to stop at Mardel's - a Christian bookstore/school supply store. They were having a great sale on bargain books and I was so pumped - I found 2 books I have had on my "to read" list as well as many others all for $2.99-$3.99 each. While there I picked up a Valentine's Day gift for my nephew and niece....so I was all set and ready to pay. I went up to the cashier's area and my cashier was a very bubbly lady named Joy.

Now before I go on in my story, I should tell you that my husband and I have been married for 5 1/2 years and we do want to have children someday. But after some decisions this last year, we won't be starting our family for another 2-3 years. Now back to my story....

I laid my items on the counter for Joy to ring up and then I dug my wallet out of my purse and waited to see what the total would be. The cashier lady saw my gift for my niece and asked me if I had a little girl. I said no, I didn't - that the gift was for my niece. The cashier then asked me if I was married...I answered yes I am. She then followed with "Do you want children?" I informed her that yes we would like to have children someday.

Right then, I was totally surprised and flabbergasted when the cashier grabbed my hand and began to pray out loud, in the store, asking God to help me conceive! I was like "whoa..what??" I didn't say anything - I didn't want to interrupt her prayer but in my head I was like no, no, no. I was still speechless as I walked out of the store. I quickly called my husband and my mother and was like "you will NOT believe what just happened!!" I wonder if it is bad that during a prayer you are silently praying that God ignores her plea.

Are you serious? WOW, I can't believe she did that to you. I am all for praying but she didn't even have any idea on your time frame or what is going on. I am not sure how I would have handled that situation!

I love Mardel's though, they always have amazing things and great sales! I could spend hours in there!

Wow. I would have been freaked out a little I think. I'm sure her heart was in the right place.

God will bring a child into your life when HE is ready. Personally, I can't wait, but for your sake, I'll hold off praying this prayer as well. LOL

That was so sweet! I don't think prayer is bound by time. Her prayer will start working when you are ready!
