This week brings a change in our life. Hubby's parents are moving from the metroplex and moving to a new house and a new chapter in their lives. We are excited for them because they are very ready for this change but we are also sad to see them go. Hubby and his parents have lived in the area since he was in the 4th grade and now that he and his 2 brothers are married and have families of their own they have decided to downsize into something easier for them. A lot of thought and planning went into their decision - his parents would never decide anything on a whim and they have been looking forward to this week for the past 4 months. Today was the actual day that his parents signed the new ownership papers on their house. The movers will be here at the end of the week to gather up everything and by this time next week, we will be the last of the "K" family living in the metroplex. It is a little surreal to think about. When I first started dating hubby, his parents were here and his oldest brother and his wife were here. The only one missing from this area was his middle brother who was finishing up at Texas A&M. I remember it was on our second date that I met hubby's mother. My friend, her boyfriend and I were picking up hubby to take him on a double date of dinner and a movie. We drove over to pick him up and when I got there and knocked on the door, he came out and said my mother would like to meet you. So I decided to be very confident and just walk in and be very outgoing and calm, even though inside I was shaking. He walked me into their living room and I walked over and introduced myself to his mother and shook her hand. That was our first meeting, hard to believe it was almost 8 years ago.
His parents aren't moving that far, only about 3-4 hours, depending on traffic. It will just be very surreal to grasp for awhile, that they aren't physically here anymore. We wish them all the best as they will be starting a new, wonderful journey. One that will bring them closer to their grandchildren but we will miss them. Thanks for all the impromptu dinners, the girly shopping days, the help and assistance with things at our house and so many other things. We love you and we will miss you, Mom and Dad.
